To help develop the media-educated and conscious citizen who can take part in the national development and contribute to the society. To undertake programmes to educate and build the capacity of media professionals, and motivate and encourage women folk to take media and journalism as profession. To undertake research work on media-related social issues including good governance, democracy, politics, human rights, gender issues etc. To provide consultancy services to the government and non-government organisations in policy and programme formulation relating to media, communication, journalism and public relations. To organise meetings, brainstorming sessions, workshops, seminars and press conferences for any agency and also take up media campaigns on behalf of any individual or agency.

BCDJC’s vision is to achieve the national objectives of emancipation, empowerment, welfare and sustainability of people and their environment and thereby, ensure a better world of peace and progress for the present and the posterity.

Bangladesh Centre for Development, Journalism and Communication (BCDJC), a not-for-profit, non-government organisation, has been working in the areas of Development, Communications and Media since 1991. The role of Communications and Media is gaining importance everyday in establishing a safe, democratic world of peace. BCDJC is committed to carrying on incessant endeavours to exploit the fullest potentials of Communications and media by employing education, research, training, publication, advocacy, consultancy and assistance.

Staff information
Total number of staffs: 26 with President as Chief Executive Office (Male/Female ratio 17:9). BCDJC is currently one of the biggest NGOs in the country with the largest networks in Bangladesh with coordinators in all the 64 districts.

Working areas
Entire Bangladesh. BCDJC is involved in a large numbers of research works in the field of Media, Women in Journalism, Local Government, Election Monitoring, Health and Population, Reporting of SMEs in Newspapers etc. Among the NGOs in Bangladesh, BCDJC has the highest number of international collaborations. Major international partners include Center for Advocacy and Research (India), AMIC (Singapore), CPJ (USA), RSF (France), International Center for Journalists (USA), International Women’s Media Foundation (USA).
